The Young Singers Foundation recently awarded scholarships, totaling $30,000, to fifteen recipients of the Bev Sellers Memorial Scholarship for the 2009-2010 academic year. They were each awarded a $2,000 scholarship.
The Young Singers Foundation, the official charity of Sweet Adelines International, is committed to enriching the lives of young people by supporting the educational and performance opportunities in vocal music. Application Process
To be eligible for consideration for this scholarship, a student
must:
Be entering sophomore year or above in an accredited institution
(college or university).
Provide proof that he/she is enrolled full-time in an accredited
institution.
Be pursuing a degree with a major or minor in vocal music (performance,
education or music therapy).
Meet the overall minimum GPA requirements of the institution.
Maintain a 3.5 grade point average in vocal music classes.
Scholarship applications must be postmarked by February 15 each
year.

Completed application form and all supplemental materials must be
postmarked by February 15.
All supplemental materials must be single-sided copy on 8.5"
x 11" paper, and collated in sets. Transcripts are an exception
Original, plus seven copies (total of eight) of all materials, must
be submitted.
The following materials must accompany the
application form:
a. Three (3) letters of recommendation; two to be from educators
who are familiar with the applicant’s musical ability.
b. Official transcript from last school attended.
c. List of extra-curricular and civic activities.
Applications will be disqualified if all materials are not attached
and received in one package.
Announcement of scholarship winners will be made by voice mail and
on this website approximately ten to twelve (10-12) weeks after
the deadline date. The phone number to call is 800.992.7464. Successful
recipients will be required to submit a photo by June 1, to be used
in publications.
Payment procedures on behalf of scholarship winners will be made
by the Foundation in the following manner:
All payments will be used to pay tuition, books and academic fees
only, upon verification from the university/college and receipt
of an invoice for same from the institution for the first term or
semester.
An equal amount will be held in reserve for the second term or semester
and shall be paid on submission of evidence of good standing and
intention to remain in said institution.
All payments will be made by check payable to the institution.
